Servicing or tank maintenance comprises the greater portion of our business, as it is the most vital step in maintaining any biotope albeit tropical, fresh or saltwater, or a wetland vivarium. We make sure that every setup receives the care and attention it deserves, as-well as any necessary additives in terms of fertilization, or water chemistry. Every biotope is different than another, and each setup will have it’s own essential maintenance process in order to preserve a pristine, well-balanced ecosystem; one that can be enjoyed for the duration of its existence, with our professional help and knowledge.
Depending on the setup’s size, biotope, and residents, it may require anywhere from a monthly visit, to a weekly maintenance schedule. It is highly recommended though that any aquarium receive bi-weekly attention, in terms of water changes, and overall inspection of the environment and specimen health.
Upon each visits, the following obligatory steps are taken:
· Substrate siphoning or clean up, as well as removing any larger un-necessary debris from the aquarium bed: in part with a 20% - 30% water change.
Cleaning the aquarium glass, and canopies, ridding of algae and any other detritus. Removal of hair algae, if present in invasive amounts.
· Plant fertilization and trimming when needed, followed by CO2 replacement, or re-production.
· Filter clean ups, and media replacement when necessary; followed by an overview of equipment and hardware to make sure everything is running smoothly and accordingly · Water test, for various elements like PH, and hardness, as well as harmful chemicals such as ammonia and nitrite; followed by any chemical, or physical treatment required to sustain the aquariums overall health.
· Any corrections in the aquascape, such as re-structuring fallen rocks, or re-planting any uprooted plants, as well as the addition of any new décor and items.
· The removal and/or treatment of any sick, dying, or un-welcomed specimens, as well as the additions of any new residents.
Cost varies accordingly to each system, as aquarium size, maintenance involved, and time is put into factor, and some setups may require more frequent visits than others. All can be discussed and touched upon; or if more information is desired, simply by contacting us on our Contact page.
